The Sleepwell Foundation conducted a workshop with two interactive sessions on Stress and Anger Management for the students of 9th - 11th class at SKR Public School, Inderpuri, New Delhi on 26th July 2024.
The session began with an Ice-Breaking Activity, helping students feel comfortable and fostering a positive environment. The workshop covered various aspects of stress, including its impact on concentration, memory, decision-making, and physical symptoms like headaches and fatigue. Stress was explained as both Eustress (positive) and Distress (negative), illustrated with a graph showing the relationship between pressure and performance.
A Role Play demonstrated the emotional dynamics of stress in a mother-daughter relationship, leading to a discussion on emotional stress and its symptoms. Students identified signs of physical and cognitive stress, such as headaches, stomach aches, racing thoughts, and memory issues, especially during exams.
The session also covered strategies for managing stress, including the Four A’s (Avoid, Alter, Adapt, Accept), and practical anger management techniques. Positive and negative expressions of anger were discussed, along with methods to control anger through behavioral, physical, and emotional strategies.
The workshop concluded with a worksheet that students could refer to whenever feeling stressed or angry.
The workshop was highly successful, as reflected in the positive feedback from the students, who found it relevant and very useful. They mentioned that they got to learn many new things, particularly about recognizing and managing stress and anger. They also expressed a desire for more such workshops in the future.
