The persistence of patriarchy which create discriminatory gender norms where girls are not equally heard and valued than boys, in education, in work , in play, in school or at home resulting in inequalities. These norms affect both boys and girls but have a disproportionate impact on girls, and through embedded structural inequalities that shape their lives from childhood through adulthood, restricts them from making a choice of life and livelihood.
WE BELIEVE that by ending all discrimination against girls and women, especially the underprivileged, is not only a basic human right, it’s crucial for sustainable future and helps economic growth and development.
Sleepwell Foundation conducts workshops on Gender Sensitization in schools as a part of Being Smart Campaign, to instil a deep sense of gender equality in both boys and girls.
The workshops are interactive where the resource persons helps the children to determine which assumptions are valid and which are stereotyped generalisations and form an opinion based on gender respect and equality.
