115 YOUTH GET ADMISSION IN THE
FIRST BATCH OF PARAMEDICAL COURSES STARTED AT SDC KHURJA

The commencement of the courses was inaugurated by Ms. Aruna Singh, Principal of DPMI through a hybrid (offline and online) event held on 7th October 2021 at SDC Khurja. Ms. Namita Gautam, Managing Trustee of Sleepwell Foundation along with other dignitaries of the civil society participated in the inauguration event.

Paramedical courses saw a steep surge in demand amongst youth post-pandemic, as, according to experts in the field, these courses offered better job prospects.

In line with providing employable skills to the rural youth of Khurja—Sleepwell Foundation has started these courses at the newly constructed Phase 2 of the Skill Development Centre at Khurja. The courses are affiliated to DPMI Vocational Institute; a premium institute imparting quality paramedical health education for the last 25 years.

115 Trainees who have taken admission to the courses were present on their first day at the centre. The intake capacity of the courses had to be raised in order to accommodate an overwhelming response of aspirants seeking admission.

Faculty members of DPMI, Ms. Jyostana Upreti, Ms. Pooja Kohli and Dr. Roopal Chawla apprised the trainees with details of the curriculum, job opportunities & placement, and the role and importance of health workers in society.

At present, the Centre is running three 6-month short-term courses; Nursing Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, and Phlebotomy. Labs have been set up at the center while arrangements have been made with reputed hospitals and health centers to provide practical classes to the trainees.

Ms. Namita Gautam, in her speech, thanked DPMI for their support in starting the job-oriented courses at SDC Khurja, thereby enhancing job prospects for the trainees. She conveyed her best wishes to the trainees and urged them to sincerely learn and prove themselves worthy of the course.

Sleepwell Foundation is committed to the economic prosperity and emotional wellness of the rural youth through skill development. Many more employable courses will be started at SDC Khurja in near future.
