The Devi Award is instituted by The Sunday Standard—which is part of The New Indian Express Group—as part of its Devi initiative. Devi awards are given to exceptional Indian women who display dynamism and innovation in their line of work and are meant for women who are bringing about change in the country on a national level.

Ms. Gautam received the award from the Hon’ble Union Minister, Smt. Sushma Swaraj at a function held at ITC Maurya, New Delhi on January 11, 2016.

She was awarded in recognition of the work being done by her and the Sleepwell Foundation.

About Devi Awards:

Lead by its Editorial Director Prabhu Chawla, The New Indian Express believes that strong, independent women are the backbone of our nation. On this belief the group organises a definitive event called Devi, which recognises and awards exceptional women from across the country who display dynamism and innovation in their work.

‘Devis’ are chosen through a rating process conducted by the senior editorial team of The Sunday Standard and an independent jury, using transparent methodology. They are selected on the basis of their contribution to their chosen line of work, as well as society in general. The rating process runs true to the motto of the Group— ‘Favour None, Fear None’.
