Sleepwell Foundation has launched a 10-part Emotional Wellness Workshop Series for the students of Maitreyi College, New Delhi, with the aim of empowering young minds to better understand and manage their emotional health.

1st Workshop: Emotional Wellness and First Aid

The session kicked off with a warm and interactive ice-breaking questionnaire, helping students ease into the topic by reflecting on their daily routines and emotional triggers. From questions like “What makes me happy?” to “How do I feel when I’m stressed?”, the aim was to spark self-awareness and encourage open conversations.

The trainers then guided students through a deep dive into the Emotional Wheel, identifying the wide spectrum of emotions we experience but often suppress. A powerful video was screened, highlighting the visible and invisible scars of both physical and emotional pain. This was followed by a group discussion on how unaddressed emotions can lead to physical, emotional, and behavioral challenges.

The workshop concluded with actionable takeaways and a renewed sense of emotional self-awareness among students. It was not just about emotional literacy — it was about building emotional resilience.

2nd Workshop: Perception & Gender Sensitization

The Workshop began with a reflective activity using general words and incomplete sentences to explore students’ initial perceptions. This interactive exercise sparked a deeper discussion on the meaning of perception and the various factors that influence it in our daily lives.

This engaging activity led into a deeper conversation on the concept of perception and the various factors that influence how individuals interpret and respond to the world around them.

A thought-provoking video on Gender Sensitization was then screened, followed by an interactive group discussion. The trainers encouraged students to reflect on gender roles and stereotypes, fostering an open space for sharing personal experiences and perspectives. The session also covered different gender identities and addressed commonly held assumptions and statements related to gender.

Throughout the workshop, participants actively engaged in discussions, shared personal stories, and asked questions, which were thoughtfully addressed by the trainers. The session concluded with a more inclusive understanding of gender and a greater awareness of how perception shapes our attitudes and behaviors.

3rd Workshop: Relationships

The third workshop in the series focused on the topic “Relationships.” The session began with a conversation around participants’ existing understanding of different types of relationships in their lives. Trainers used slides with true/false statements to spark dialogue, encouraging students to express their perspectives and challenge assumptions.

A key message of the workshop was that effective communication is the bridge to strong relationships. Trainers used the metaphor of relationships as a joint emotional bank account, where mutual emotional investments yield trust and connection.

The session concluded by introducing the four pillars of healthy relationships — receiving, giving, asking, and refusing. The workshop was highly interactive, with students sharing personal experiences and insights. Trainers addressed participants’ doubts and questions with empathy and clarity, making the session both informative and impactful.
