Sleepwell Foundation conducted three impactful workshops on Emotional Wellness & First Aid, Depression, and Stress & Anger Management for 340 inmates at Tihar Jail, New Delhi helping them rebuild their lives.
1st Workshop: Emotional Wellness and First Aid (Feb 13, 2025)
Trainers Ms. Vickie Rai and Ms. Neelam Agarwal guided inmates through understanding emotions and their impact. A video exercise differentiated physical and emotional hurt, highlighting the importance of acknowledging feelings. Participants reflected on how suppressing emotions affects them physically and mentally. The session ended with box-breathing techniques for emotional balance.
2nd Workshop: Understanding Depression (Feb 20, 2025)
Trainers Ms. Veena Aggarwal and Ms. Neelam Agarwal engaged participants in an interactive true-or-false activity to debunk myths about depression. The session covered symptoms, causes, and preventive measures to help inmates identify and manage depression effectively. A Q&A session encouraged open discussions.
3rd Workshop: Stress & Anger Management (Feb 27, 2025)
Trainers Ms. Mamta Vaish and Ms. Suminder Kaur explained stress types, Eustress (positive stress), and the impact of anger on emotional and physical well-being. Real-life examples helped inmates relate to their struggles, and the workshop concluded with golden tips for managing stress and anger constructively.
These sessions provided a safe space for emotional expression, with many participants sharing personal struggles. Some revealed their dependence on medication for depression and sleep issues. The Q&A discussions allowed trainers to offer practical solutions, reinforcing the need for more such workshops in the future.
Through these transformative workshops, the Sleepwell Foundation has provided Tihar Jail inmates with essential tools to manage stress, depression, and emotional well-being, helping them navigate their challenges more positively.
By addressing these concerns, Sleepwell Foundation is making a difference in the lives of prisoners, offering them hope, healing, and a chance at a better future.
