Sleepwell Foundation conducted a workshop on “Good Touch, Bad Touch” on 29 August 2025 at Atal Adarsh Prathmik Vidyalaya, Moti Bagh, for Classes 3, 4, and 5, with 80 students participating. The sessions aimed to build awareness around body safety and personal boundaries in an age-appropriate, engaging, and culturally relevant way.

The workshop began with a fun ice-breaker, “Simon Says,” which eased hesitation and helped assess children’s familiarity with body parts. The core theme was introduced through relatable, bilingual examples using simple, everyday scenarios. Key points included understanding safe vs. unsafe touch, recognizing caregiving exceptions, and knowing how to respond if they feel unsafe.

Picture-based activities encouraged emotional reflection, while peer interactions promoted empathy. A Childline (1098) video and open discussion further reinforced learning. The Head Mistress expressed appreciation for the initiative and requested monthly workshops on similar topics to continue supporting students' emotional wellness.

Session - Gender Sensitization Workshop
Trainer - Ms. Aastha Kamra & Ms. Neha Gupta
Students - 98

The workshop aimed to raise awareness about gender equality and break stereotypes. The session began with the song “Ladkiya Ladko Jaisi Nahi Hoti,” followed by discussions on societal expectations for boys and girls. Students reflected on gender roles, such as boys being discouraged from crying or doing tasks like makeup, and girls being restricted from playing certain sports.

The trainer explained the difference between gender and sex, emphasizing that gender roles are socially constructed. The trainers also used images to show traditional gender roles in occupations and discussed color associations like blue for boys and pink for girls. A video on the natural expression of emotions encouraged students to challenge the idea that crying is a sign of weakness for boys.

The workshop also covered the concept of the third gender, with the trainer explaining the importance of accepting transgender individuals.

The students were asked about their encounters with transgender people, and many responded that they had seen them at weddings or giving blessings during childbirth. Using the film “Laxmi,” the trainers discussed the challenges transgender people face in society and the importance of accepting them as equal members of the community.

The workshop concluded by highlighting how gender roles and relationships between men and women can vary across different societies and evolve over time. The students responded positively to the session, with the feedback from both students and school authorities being very encouraging.

Overall, the workshop was a success, sparking important conversations about gender equality and societal perceptions, leaving a lasting impact on the students and providing them with valuable lessons on inclusivity and acceptance.
