Sleepwell Foundation successfully conducted a 10-part Emotional Wellness Workshop Series for teachers from across India and students of the Paramedical Course at SDC Khurja. Designed to empower participants with emotional awareness and practical coping skills, the series—held from August to October 2025—engaged around 648 participants through interactive and reflective sessions.
1st Workshop Emotional Wellness & First Aid – Ms. Suminder Kaur & Ms. Parmeet Kaur Manchanda
The inaugural workshop introduced the concept of emotional wellness through a warm-up questionnaire. Trainers discussed various emotions and highlighted how neglecting them can lead to emotional, physical, and behavioural issues. The session concluded with practical self-care steps for short-term, long-term, and routine wellbeing.
2nd Workshop Perception & Gender Sensitization – Ms. Simi Hanspal & Ms. Neelam Agarwal
Beginning with a word association activity, the session explored how perceptions are formed and influenced. A video on gender sensitization led to discussions on gender identities, stereotypes, and social conditioning.
3rd Workshop Effective Communication – Ms. Vickie Rai & Ms. Parmeet Kaur Manchanda
This workshop focused on communication styles, barriers, perception filters, and non-verbal cues. Role plays and chat interactions made the learning engaging and relatable.
4th Workshop Relationships – Ms. Vickie Rai & Ms. Veena Aggarwal
Participants explored different types of relationships and the role of communication. Through true/false activities and the concept of “I + U = We”, trainers emphasized mutual understanding and shared the four pillars of healthy relationships.
5th Workshop Domestic Violence – Ms. Vickie Rai & Ms. Parmeet Kaur Manchanda
The session unpacked the meaning, forms, and cycle of domestic violence. Trainers discussed why victims often remain silent and ended with preventive strategies and the screening of Ek Lambi Saas.
6th Workshop Stress & Anger Management – Ms. Suminder Kaur & Ms. Veena Aggarwal
Participants learned about stress, eustress, coping mechanisms, anger types, myths, and the “Anger Iceberg” model. A role play demonstrated anger triggers, followed by practical management techniques.
7th Workshop Coping with Depression – Ms. Parmeet Kaur Manchanda & Ms. Veena Aggarwal
The workshop addressed myths, symptoms, and coping strategies related to depression. Trainers shared self-help tools, ways to support others, and important mental health helpline information.
8th Workshop Understanding Addiction – Ms. Neelam Agarwal & Ms. Veena Aggarwal
Focusing particularly on alcohol addiction, trainers discussed myths, the cycle of dependence, and the importance of family support. Preventive measures were also highlighted.
9th Workshop Change Management – Ms. Vickie Rai & Ms. Neelam Agarwal
Participants reflected on their views about change. The traffic light model—Stop, Pause, Continue—was introduced as a practical tool for managing transitions. The session ended with the motivating song “Har Ghadi Badal Rahi Hai Zindagi.”
10th Workshop Prevention of Suicide – Mr. Sachin Chidambaran
The final workshop offered an open dialogue on suicidal thoughts, warning signs, and the need for destigmatized conversations. Using the example of the 9/11 attack, the trainer emphasized the unpredictability of crises and encouraged participants to actively support those in distress.
Conclusion
The entire series witnessed enthusiastic participation and heartfelt sharing. Each workshop fostered a safe, interactive environment where individuals could reflect on personal challenges and learn practical tools for emotional wellbeing. Overall, the series was highly successful in empowering participants with emotional resilience, awareness, and life-enhancing coping strategies.
